Derrick Rose refuses to be honored with a statue with the Bulls retiring his jersey

After the Miami Heat icon, Dwyane Wade was honored with a statue in front of the Kaseya Center, Derrick Rose made his feelings clear that he did not want a similar honor.

During his interview with ESPN's Shams Charania on Thursday, Rose expressed his the same.

"The statue, the way people been creating statues I do not want no statue. No statue. Jerry, no statue bro. Please, Michael, no statue. ... The jersey retired, I would love that. That would be my way of getting close to the Top 75," Rose said.

On Saturday, the Chicago Bulls hosted the New York Knicks at the United Center. On the same day, the franchise honored Derrick Rose for the legacy he left in the windy city. The Bulls retired their former guard's jersey during the event.

D-Rose was the face of the Chicago Bulls during his time at the franchise. However, the latter half of his career was plagued with injuries which reduced his role from a superstar to a veteran roleplayer in the final years of his career.
