Two of the Eastern Conference’s top teams faced off in Friday’s Milwaukee Bucks vs Cleveland Cavaliers matchup. The Bucks came into the game fresh off their 2024 Emirates NBA Cup championship, while the Cavaliers boasted the league’s best record.
The Bucks’ NBA Cup victory, which rewarded each player with $500,000 in incentives, marked a high point in the team’s midseason turnaround. However, the Cavaliers handed the Bucks a 124-101 defeat.
Milwaukee played without star point guard Damian Lillard, and his absence was felt as the Bucks struggled offensively in the first quarter, falling behind 22-16.
The Cavaliers continued to dominate in the second quarter, outscoring the Bucks 40-31 to establish a commanding 69-51 lead at halftime.
