"Mine looked the same" - Steph Curry and Anthony Edwards have impromptu dunk competition after Team USA practice

Team USA guards Steph Curry and Anthony Edwards shared a humorous moment after a practice session when they spontaneously held a dunk contest. The Golden State Warriors star humorously claimed his dunk looked just like Edwards'.

Known more for his shooting than his dunking, Steph Curry can still dunk. He managed a straightforward dunk off an alley-oop pass.

Meanwhile, Anthony Edwards demonstrated his superior athleticism with a windmill dunk, taking off just inside the restricted area. Curry jokingly remarked to the Minnesota Timberwolves star:

"Mine looked the same."

Clearly, there's a notable difference in their leaping abilities. During the 2009 Draft Combine, Curry recorded a max vertical jump of 35.5 inches at age 21. Now, at 36, his jumping prowess has likely diminished.

In contrast, Edwards boasts a 41-inch vertical and is renowned for his powerful dunks.

Team USA has been dominant in the group stage of the Olympics, securing blowout victories in their first two games.

In their opener against Serbia, Steph Curry played 21 minutes, scoring 11 points, and adding three assists and three rebounds. He shot 4-for-8 from the field, including 3-for-7 from beyond the arc.

Anthony Edwards also scored 11 points in that game, grabbing five rebounds off the bench. He shot 4-for-6 from the field and made two triples.

In their second game against South Sudan, Curry struggled, managing just 3 points on 1-for-9 shooting, missing all of his 3-point attempts. He did contribute four assists in 21 minutes.

Edwards, on the other hand, shone with 13 points in 17 minutes off the bench, recording three steals and two assists while making two of his four 3-point attempts.

Despite his recent shooting woes, Curry told USA Today that he is annoyed but not concerned.

“You’re always annoyed, for sure, you always want to make shots but you can’t let that rob you of all that other stuff that you do to help win a game,” Curry said.

Curry said he would keep on shooting shots that the game will call for.

“I’m not even worried about it, just a matter of taking the ones I know I can make and that the game calls for,” Curry said. “I obviously want to shoot the ball well.”

Curry is among the three players who have consistently started for Team USA, along with LeBron James and Devin Booker.
