The Minnesota Timberwolves travel to Southern California on Tuesday night for a tricky regular-season opening game against the LA Lakers. After a long offseason, a full house is expected at the Crypto.com Arena to see a LeBron James-led Lakers team take on a talented Timberwolves lineup.
LA will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2023-24 season. The Lakers edged their way into the NBA Play-in tournament with a 47-35 record. A difficult first-round series against the Denver Nuggets proved to tough to overcome with the Lakers eventually going down 4-1.
Newly-appointed coach JJ Redick will hope that he left his mark on this team during the preseason. The first-year coach will be keen to secure a win at home in his first-ever regular-season game as an NBA coach.
Led by Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves were one of the most dominant team's in the league last season. Coach Chris Finch guided his team to 56-26 record to finish third in the Western Conference standings. Minnesota went all the way to the conference finals for the first time in 20 years before being eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in five games.
