The Timberwolves took an early 6-0 lead in the game with a back to back 3-point shots from Naz Reid and Jaden McDaniels, within the first minute of the game. It was Andre Drummond who opened the score for the Sixers with an open dunk.
By the half of the first quarter, newly acquired Donte DiVincenzo gave the Timberwolves a 7-point lead with his 3-pointer. He extended the lead to 10 points with another 3-pointer.
Kyle Lowry and Tyrese Maxey kept their team in the game with their answers. The Timberwolves opened their second quarter in a forceful manner. Within 2 minutes of the game, they forced seven free throws against the Sixers.
Within five minutes of the game, the Timberwolves took a 19-point lead in the game, which went to 20-point after a layup by Anthony Edwards. The halftime closed with a 70-53 score and a comfortable 17-point lead for the Timberwolves.
The Sixers entered the third quarter with a different mindset. Within two minutes of the game they cut the lead to 9 points. After the Timberwolves again took a 13-point lead with a layup from McDaniels with 84-71 score, both teams exchanged buckets.
By the end of the third quarter, the Sixers had cut the lead to 8 points with 87-95 score. With starting players already on the bench for both teams, the reserves finished the fourth quarter.
The Timberwolves had again regained their 13-point lead within 4 minutes of the game, which the Sixers cut to 2 points with just over 5 minutes remaining in the game. However, Minnesota took control and won the game by 121-111.
