Legendary reliever Mariano Rivera graced the World Baseball Classic 2023 stage as he was invited to throw out the first pitch ahead of the Pool A game between Panama and Chinese Taipei.

MLB fans on Twitter were overjoyed to see the MLB great back on the baseball field, albeit performing a different role.

Mariano Rivera spent the entirety of his career with the New York Yankees, scripting a fairytale chapter most baseball players can only dream of. He was a 13-time All-Star and won the World Series five times with the Pinstripers.

He was the last player to wear jersey number 42 in the MLB. He continued wearing it till his retirement in 2013, post which it was retired by the Yankees. He is the only player in MLB history to be unanimously elected to the Hall of Fame.
