Shai Gilgeous-Alexander opened up about what he thinks of his rating in the NBA during a post-game press conference interview on Sunday. The OKC Thunder took on the defending champions, the Boston Celtics, wherein Gilgeous-Alexander put up a remarkable double-double performance to lead his team to victory.
After Thunder notched a 105-92 victory on Sunday, the media addressed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as one of the top guys in the league today. They wanted to get Gilgeous-Alexander's opinion on the matter. However, the OKC superstar kept it simple and said:
“Yeah, I’m pretty good at basketball.”

As bold as his answer may have sounded, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is among the best players in the NBA today. As of Friday, SGA is ranked second in the MVP ladder. He sits behind Nikola Jokic, who has consistently remained the top player to potentially win the award this season.
Looking at the OKC Thunder star's numbers after Sunday's victory over the Boston Celtics, he is averaging 31.2 points, 6.1 assists, 5.4 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.1 blocks. So far, Gilgeous-Alexander is yet to miss a game, which also factors in for his potential MVP award win. Aside from dominating individually, his performances have also helped the Thunder become the best team in the NBA with a 30-5 record.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander destroys defending champions
The OKC Thunder went up against the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. Seeing how the best team in the NBA would fare against the defending champions was interesting. As it turned out, the Thunder weren't intimidated as they came out on top with a 105-92 finish.
On Sunday, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played a prominent role in OKC's dominance over Boston. SGA practically did everything on both ends of the floor, creating an all-around double-double performance. Gilgeous-Alexander added 33 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks to lead his team to victory.
SGA carried the load and bested the trio of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis. Tatum also had a double-double performance, adding 26 points and 10 rebounds. Brown was the Boston Celtics's second-best scorer, adding 21 points. As for Porzingis, he efficiently supported the Celtics duo with 19 points and nine rebounds. Unfortunately for the defending champions, it wasn't enough to put a stop to Gilgeous-Alexander's tracks.
The OKC Thunder are now on an impressive 15-game winning streak. Their next opponents will be against the Cleveland Cavaliers, who are also on a 10-game winning streak. It will be a battle between the best two teams of their respective conferences.
