Al Horford’s sister Anna Horford may be his loudest supporter on social media. Regardless of where the big man has played in the NBA, she is consistently behind him. The podcaster is usually engaged in whatever game his brother is playing in.

With the Boston Celtics in the finals, it was natural for Horford’s sister to be hyped up. After the pain of the last two years, she was raring to experience something different. Like her, everyone in Celtics Nation hoped “Big Al” would finally get his first championship.

Al Horford and the Celtics missed that opportunity in Game 4 when they were whipped 122-84 by the Dallas Mavericks. It was a humiliating loss that caused many to wonder if Boston would recover from it. The “Green Machine” proved to be up to the task by holding off the visitors for a championship-clinching 106-88 victory.

Anna Horford promptly reacted on X, formerly Twitter, after the record-breaking win:

“MY BIG BROTHER IS AN @NBA CHAMPION!!!”

It took Al Horford 186 playoff games to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy, the most before winning the championship. The legendary Karl Malone saw action in 193 postseason games but he never won the title.

Here’s what Horford had to say about the wait:

“It’s been long, a lot of hard work, but I’m so proud to be part of this team and that it happened now. Gloria a Dios! Gloria a Dios!”

If the Boston Celtics gave up the unthinkable 3-0 lead to embarrassingly lose in the 2024 NBA Finals, Al Horford would have to beat Malone’s mark. He didn’t need to do that after strong shooting from deep and an unforgiving defense pushed them to the title.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown couldn’t thank Al Horford enough

It wasn’t only Anna Horford who made sure Al Horford was recognized. Boston Celtics stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum couldn’t thank him enough for everything he has done for the team.

After the game, Jayson Tatum had this to say about winning the title for their veteran:

“Badly [to win the championship]. He don’t have much time left, I hear. That’s my favorite teammate of all time. He paved the way for a lot of us. It means the world to us.”

Jaylen Brown, the 2024 NBA Finals MVP wasn’t too far behind:

“Al Horford is a real-life legend and hero. It’s been great to be his teammate.”

Horford is in the Celtics’ books for another season. He is expected to play another crucial role for the team for the 2024-25 campaign. Anna Horford might yet get another chance to toast his brother if Boston defends its title. She might have “repeat champion” in her post a year from today.
