Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Boston Celtics on Sunday night. Throughout the game, it appeared as if the Wolves could take down the defending champions. But, the Celtics won with a nail-biting 107-105 finish.
Minnesota had an opportunity to win the game in the final seconds of the fourth quarter. Edwards had an opportunity to attack the basket with five seconds remaining on the clock. Just as he reached the rim, Antman passed the ball out to the corner to Jaden McDaniels who made an extra pass to Naz Reid to take the final shot from three-point land.
While some could see Anthony Edwards' play as smart and unselfish, other fans on social media didn't appreciate the Wolves star shying away from the clutch moment. Here's what some said on X, formerly Twitter:
"Anthony Edwards : “Naz Reid please bail me out! I don’t want my missed attempted game winner all over social!” Tatum and Jaylen Brown COOKED!"

"He could have just went for the 2 ffs! He can’t be serious"
While some were negative toward Anthony Edwards giving up the clutch shot, the majority of fans think it was a good play.
"That was a fire play they drew up. Naz Reid almost gamed us, I even thought Ant was gonna take the shot," one said.
"Let’s not get it twisted. That was their best chance in that scenario. Poor execution in the 4th by us but I’ll take it. Need Porzingis for that extra rim protection. They was going crazy in the paint," one pointed out.
"Even if it was the right play or not, Ant stans were dogging Tatum for deferring to his team to win games. Life comes at you fast," another pointed out.
"Ight relax if it wasnt for McDaniels s**tty pass naz Reid woulda probably hit that ngl," another said.
Wolves vs Celtics recap: Anthony Edwards failed to dethrone defending champions
It was a close matchup on Sunday. Boston came up with a huge victory over Minnesota at home with a 107-105 finish. As always, the duo of Jaylen Brown (29 points) and Jayson Tatum (26 points) was the main factor in the Celtics' win.
Despite the heartbreaking loss, Anthony Edwards didn't make it easy for the defending champions. Edwards nearly came up with a triple-double performance putting up 28 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. It's also worth noting that the Wolves had the advantage on the glass as Rudy Gobert secured his team 20 rebounds.
Assisting Edwards on offense was his new co-star, Julius Randle, who scored 23 points. Unfortunately for Minnesota, Naz Reid couldn't hit the clutch three-point attempt in the final seconds of the game to potentially sink the game-winner.
