NBA denies Dallas Mavericks’ game protest against the Golden State Warriors

The NBA has denied Dallas Mavericks’ game protest of the March 22 loss to the Golden State Warriors, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

The Mavericks filed an official protest about a bizarre third-quarter play in their game against the Warriors on March 22.

The play saw the Warriors score a free basket after the Mavs believed they would be inbounding under their own scoring basket. The Mavericks believed they had possession of the ball, but official Andy Nagy pointed to the Warriors for possession before quickly indicating a timeout for Dallas.

The Golden State Warriors ended up winning 127-125 with Jonathan Kuminga coming off the bench to score 22 points. Luka Doncic led the Dallas Mavericks, finishing with 30 points, 17 assists and seven rebounds. Jaden Hardy came off the bench to score 27 points while Christian Wood finished with 19.

After the game, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban had called the decision the worst he dad ever seen in the NBA. Regardless, as Charania reported, the NBA denied the game protest.

The Dallas Mavericks (38-42) have since slumped to 11th place in the Western Conference and are battling for the final spot in the play-in tournament with two games remaining. The OKC Thunder (38-42), who also have two games left, hold the tiebreaker with Dallas and sit in 10th place.
