Other fans were imploring NBA teams to give him a contract for next season.
"The Raptors need to bring him back. Worth a shot." One fan said.
"GIVE AN NBA CONTRACT TO BRUNO CABOCLO," another fan said.
"@chicagobulls plz," said one fan.
Caboclo has bounced around the league since being drafted 20th overall in 2014. He has 105 total games under his belt, suiting up for the Toronto Raptors, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets. Caboclo last secured an NBA contract during the 2020-21 season.
When did Bruno Cabolco first get dubbed the "Brazilian Kevin Durant"?
Brunco Cabolco first got dubbed the "Brazilian Kevin Durant" on draft night 2014. Leading up to his selection, that is something his camp was throwing around when talking to teams.
After the Toronto Raptors officially drafted Cabolco, analyst Fran Fraschilla even said the name on the broadcast. He was giving this comparison due to his size and thin frame at the time.
"This is the all-time swing for the fences pick," Fraschilla said. "First of all, he's described as the Brazilian Kevin Durant. He's 6-foot-9, he's a terrific athlete, but he's so raw that he's about three or four years away in my opinion."
Despite having all this raw talent, Cabolco never panned out in the NBA. Multiple teams took a flier on him, but his stays were never long. These days, Cabolco is keeping his professional career alive overseas in Serbia.
During the 2024 Olympics, Cabolco's play has been up and down for Brazil. Through three Group Phase games, they sit with a record of 1-2.
In his first matchup of the Summer Games. Cabolco went scoreless in a loss to Victor Wembanyama and France. He followed that up by scoring six points in 13 minutes of action in a loss to Germany.
Despite such a rocky start, Cabolco managed to come alive against Japan. If he can finish the Olympics strong, he might wind up on an NBA team's radar again.
