Andrew Wiggins considers the Golden State Warriors to be one of the deepest teams in the NBA this season. He claimed that after Golden State's 139-104 blowout win over the Portland Trail Blazers in Wednesday's season opener.

Coach Steve Kerr fielded a 12-man rotation, with all of them making an impact in one way or another. Seven players scored in double digits, including three who came off the bench.

"I think we got the deepest team in the league," Wiggins told reporters. "I think it's going to work out great for us."

The Warriors have a good headache with this. However, NBA fans don't seem to fully agree with Wiggins. Despite adding the top role players in free agency, the Warriors still lack star depth.

Steph Curry may have gotten enough support during the preseason and against a rebuilding team like the Portland Trail Blazers, but it may not be the case when the stakes are higher against tougher opponents. Fans pointed that out while reacting to Wiggins' comments on 'X' as one user wrote:

"Y’all not playing the Blazers every night lil bro."
"Beating the blazers really has bro saying anything," another fan added.
"He’s capping so hard for no reason," one fan said.
"He said “I THINK,”" one fan added.
"He's capping," another troll said.

One fan critiqued the Warriors for having too many old players in their starting lineup:

"With too many senior citizens in the starting 5. Not good."

Andrew Wiggins impresses in new role after keeping starting job

Andrew Wiggins was one of the bright spots for the Golden State Warriors in their season debut. Playing at the shooting guard position for the first time in his career, Wiggins impressed as one of the primary options offensively. He scored 20 points, shooting 8 of 15, including 4 of 7 from 3.

Wiggins' willingness and improvement from the 3-point range is critical to the Warriors' new starting lineup to work schematically. He's their next-best shooter after Steph Curry among the starters that feature Jonathan Kuminga, Draymond Green and Trayce Jackson-Davis.

Andrew Wiggins had a down year last season from deep after he connected on only 35.9% of his shots after shooting 39.3% in 2022 and 39.6% in 2023. The Warriors will hope he can maintain his efficiency, especially from the 3, as that gives this lengthy and defensively versatile lineup a better chance of sticking longer.
