Being the son of one of the most popular basketball players in the world warrants strong coverage for the media, which is the case for Bronny James. He made the Summer League debut last night. However, it didn't last long until several fans mocked LeBron James' son for his performance as X user NBA Memes (@NBAMemes) uploaded an image of his player comparison.
Due to his father's reputation in the league, it comes as no surprise that the young guard is experiencing this kind of reception. Comparisons were bound to happen as he has been aligned with immense expectations to deliver amid all the pressure surrounding him.
Featured in the meme picture were other NBA Hall of Famers and their star comparisons. However, this wasn't the case for Bronny James, who was aligned alongside Milwaukee Bucks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo.

X user Jack Slammer (@ohjackslammer) posted a laughing emoji alongside his comment that highlighted that it has only just been one Summer League outing for the rookie.
"It's one summer league game," the fan posted.
X user Foolie V. (@VeezyIsMyName) pointed out that it is now James' turn to receive a similar kind of treatment to the one his father experienced.
"I know Bronny and Bryce were laughing and making fun of they dad growing up. Bronny, step up to the plate," the fan posted.
X user Wiggins SZN (@WigginsOfAndrew) pointed out the disparity in skill level between Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Bronny James.
"Thanasis is so much better than Bronny it's not even funny," the fan posted.
Be that as it may, it remains to be seen how the rookie's game will translate into the professional league once the 2024-25 regular season begins.
Bronny James talked about his Summer League debut
Following the Lakers' 108-94 loss to the Sacramento Kings during the Califonia Classic Summer League matchup on Saturday, Bronny James shared what stood out to him the most in his debut, as per Fan Nation's Alex Kirschenbaum.
"Maybe the atmosphere," James said (via Jovan Buha). "It was more than I expected. I mean, it's a big game for me, but I didn't know if people from Golden State would come and rep for me. So that was pretty nice to see."
It remains an incredible feeling for NBA rookies to play in their first Summer League game as they have finally started their journey in the big league. For someone like Bronny, it was unlike anything he could have ever envisioned.
In his debut, he posted four points (2-of-9 shooting), two assists and two rebounds in 22 minutes of action.
