NBA fans were surprised to hear that All-Star guard Trae Young could leave Adidas and join a different brand. During the Atlanta Hawks' first team practice, Young wore a pair of ANTA shoes despite having his signature line with Adidas.

In a post from the Hawks' Instagram page, the point guard was photographed wearing a different brand of basketball shoes.

According to Sole Retriever, Young's signature line with Adidas will end after the release of the Trae Young 4. The details about the cancellation of his signature line have yet to be shared but the star is ready to move on from the brand.

Young still wore his third signature sneaker during the team's Media Day on Monday. But that didn't stop the rumors about his sneaker future from spreading.

After fans saw Young wearing a different pair of basketball sneakers, they shared their reaction on X (formerly Twitter).

"The logo looks like his hairline. Could be a perfect match," one fan joked.
"I had no idea he was on adidas," another fan said.
"When a player goes to Anta you know they’re desperate," a fan shared.

Some fans were more optimistic and thought that it was a good move by the star point guard.

"A signature deal with Anta would be huge for both him and the brand," one fan speculated.
"Could be cooking up a new signature shoe deal, Adidas who?" another fan said.
"That would be a big signing," a fan added.

When Young was drafted by Atlanta in 2018, Adidas signed him to a four-year deal. The contract was restructured in 2020 as part of a contract extension.

Trae Young predicts the Hawks will return to the postseason

Last year, the Hawks weren't part of the NBA playoffs after they finished with a 36-46 record, placing them 10th in the Eastern Conference.

This season, Trae Young has set his eyes on leading Atlanta back to the postseason. On media day, Young shared his goal to be back in the playoffs.

"My goal every year is to win. I don’t play basketball just to play; my goal is to win," Young said. "Every night I step out there, I feel like we can win. I want to be better than we were last year. We weren’t in the playoffs, we need to be back in the playoffs this year."

Over the summer, the Hawks didn't pursue a star in free agency. Their most notable addition to the roster is Zaccharie Risacher, the top pick of the 2024 NBA Draft.
