Two weeks ago, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards ruffled some feathers when sharing his thoughts about the previous generation of basketball players. One former champion's response to his remarks had fans spiraling online.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Edwards said that Michael Jordan was the only skilled player of his generation. Upon hearing this, former Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace responded to the rising star on his podcast.
Wallace listed a handful of players he feels are better than Anthony Edwards, but one name threw fans for a loop. That being Derrick McKey. While he had a long career in the NBA, the former No. 9 pick only averaged 11.0 points across 15 seasons.

Following this bold take from Wallace, fans flooded social media to share their thoughts on the comment.
Other fans were amazed at Wallace pulling out a lesser-known player like McKey in his rant.
"Who tf is “Derrick mckey”," one fan said.
"Derrick McKey is crazyyyy," another fan said.
"Derrrick McWho?!?" said one fan.
McKey began his career with the Seattle Supersonics but spent the majority of his time in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers. While there, the 6-foot-9 forward was named to an All-Defense team in 1995 and 1996.
Following an eight-year run in Indiana, McKey played in 41 games for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2002 before retiring.
Multiple NBA legends call out Anthony Edwards for his Michael Jordan comment
Since Anthony Edwards made his remarks regarding Michael Jordan, numerous Hall of Famers have responded with their thoughts. One of the first was Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas, who reposted the quote on X.
"Propaganda works, so be careful what you choose to believe," Thomas wrote on X.
During a recent interview with Stephen A. Smith, Magic Johnson was asked about what Anthony Edwards said regarding his generation of the NBA. The longtime LA Lakers guard decided not to respond because the Timberwolves guard has never won a championship.
"I don't never respond to a guy that's never won a championship," Magic said. "There's not nothing to really say. He didn't win a college championship, I don't even know if he won a high school championship."
During their playing days, Thomas and Johnson were both primary rivals to Jordan. En route to winning a pair of titles, the "Bad Boy" Pistons took down the Chicago Bulls on numerous occasions.
From a talent standpoint, Johnson and Thomas are still widely regarded as two of the greatest point guards in NBA history. Between the two of them, they have a combined seven NBA championships.
