Over the past week, one of the biggest stories in the NBA was the end-of-game brawl between the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets. Days after the incident, one former player continues to troll fans about it online.

With a little over 30 seconds left in the game, Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro got tangled up during an inbounds play. The two would exchange words before the Rockets guard aggresively threw Herro to the ground. This resulted in a major scrum between both teams and suspensions being handed out by the league office.

Four days after the minor brawl, former NBA player Vernon Maxwell was still poking fun at Heat fans on X (formerly Twitter). On Thursday, he would engage in a back-and-forth with multiple users, especially one fan who said Thompson should be suspended for the rest of the season.

"This has to be either Herro’s mom or the inventor of pickleball."

Maxwell was a journeyman in his 13-year career, but his six-year tenure with the Rockets was his longest stay on one team. He'd have a lot of success in Houston, winning two championships alongside Hall of Fame center Hakeem Olajuwon.

In regards to the punishments handed out for this altercation, Thompson got suspended for two games while Herro was fined $25,000.

Vernon Maxwell wasn't pleased with the NBA's reaction to Rockets-Heat brawl

Before he was trolling fans posting about the incident, Vernon Maxwell gave his thoughts on the NBA's punishments. He was far from pleased to see Amen Thompson and Tyler Herro treated very differently.

Maxwell didn't disagree that Thompson should be suspended for his actions. However, he feels Herro should have gotten more as he instigated the fight with his words. The former NBA champion also feels this is the league continuing to attack the Rockets.

Following the brawl, the Heat managed to go on and take down the Rockets by a final score of 104-100. Herro played a big part in Miami's victory, finishing with 27 points and nine assists. As for Thompson, he finished with five points, five rebounds, five assists and one steal off the bench.

Seeing that Thompson was the one who escalated the situation by making it physical, it's not shocking to see him be handed the bigger punishment. Losing the versatile guard for two games is a tough blow for the Rockets, but at the end of the day, the suspension is far from drastic. Houston has more than enough depth on its roster to fill the void in their upcoming games.

After a promising rookie year, Thompson continues to develop into one of the league's more versatile talents. The former lottery pick is averaging 11.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and a combined 2.2 stocks (steals + blocks) per game.
