NBA Rumors: Patrick Beverley in talks with LA Clippers over potential reunion

Los Angeles Clippers v Minnesota Timberwolves
Patrick Beverley reunion chances with LA Clippers

Patrick Beverley is in talks with the LA Clippers after being bought out by the Orlando Magic, according to NBA analyst Andrew Greiff.

Beverley was traded last week to the Orlando Magic after starting 45 games for the LA Lakers this season, averaging 6.4 points, 2.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds. Beverley became a free agent just days after his trade.

The player was never going to suit up for the Magic and had every intention of being bought out. Despite his limited stats, Beverley is a defensive leader and brings a lot of steel and determination. He also had 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks per game and can be an asset for any team, be it as a starter or from the bench.

Beverley played for the LA Clippers for three seasons from 2017 to 2021, and his recent Twitter history suggests that he is open to a move to multiple teams. The Clippers (33-28) are fourth in the Western Conference and will be looking to add a few pieces that can propel them to championship contention.

Whether Beverley proves to be one of them remains to be seen.

“Winning at the highest level.” Patrick Beverley looking to move to a winning team

Since the buyout with the Orlando Magic, Patrick Beverley has been vocal on Twitter about his next move. The player entertained talk of joining multiple teams, including the Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, Chicago Bulls, LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors.

When a fan brought up a potential union between him and Draymond Green at the Golden State Warriors, Beverley said:

"Winning at the highest level, a players dream❤️❤️"

The Golden State Warriors, the defending champions, can make do with Beverley and the defensive resilience he provides. This is especially true with Green slowing down and requiring regular rest. Still, a number of other teams, including his former home, the LA Clippers, have already been mentioned.

There is little doubt that Patrick Beverley, at the age of 34, still has a few years left in his tank. This is something he has proven this season for the LA Lakers as well. The fact that it didn’t work out with the Lakers is down to a number of reasons that are not related to the player. Thus, there is little doubt that Beverley could still be a big addition to a team this season.
