The Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the league's top-performing teams this season, despite facing significant challenges, including the prolonged absence of key players like Ja Morant. The Grizzlies currently hold the third spot in the Western Conference standings with an impressive 25-14 record, even with Morant missing 17 games.
In addition to their superstar point guard, head coach Taylor Jenkins has had to navigate stretches without Desmond Bane, Zach Edey and former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart, who remains sidelined. The team’s depth has shone through, with role players stepping up and contributing significantly to their success.
Now, with Morant, Bane and Edey back in action and showcasing their talent, the Grizzlies are poised to maintain their strong form in the second half of the season.
To bolster their roster further, Memphis is reportedly exploring the possibility of acquiring Cam Johnson. According to NBA insider Evan Sidery, the Morant-led Grizzlies have emerged as one of the strongest contenders for Johnson, who is currently under a four-year, $94.5 million contract with the Brooklyn Nets.

"There is buzz building around the Grizzlies becoming a strong trade suitor for Cam Johnson," Sidery tweeted. "Memphis has the needed draft capital and salaries to build an appealing offer for the Nets.
"After inquiring about Jimmy Butler, Memphis appears ready to make a big title-contending move."
Cam Johnson has become one of the most sought-after players as the Feb. 7 trade deadline approaches. The star forward has drawn interest from several teams, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, making him a key target in trade discussions.
Cam Johnson's price is likely to be high
Given Cam Johnson’s value and his contract running through the 2026-27 season, the Brooklyn Nets are in no rush to finalize a deal, which is likely to drive up his asking price.
The Memphis Grizzlies, however, are well-positioned to make a compelling offer. With a roster full of talented young players, the Grizzlies have the assets needed to craft an enticing trade package that could persuade the Nets to part ways with Johnson.
Meanwhile, Grizzlies reporter Damichael Cole has refuted Evan Sidery's report regarding the Grizzlies' interest in Johnson. Cole stated that, as of now, there is no substantial progress or significant developments in trade discussions between the Grizzlies and the Nets.
"My read is this is more industry noise than anything," Cole tweeted. "As of right now, there’s nothing substantive between Memphis and Brooklyn in regard to a Cam Johnson deal.
Johnson’s unique skill set has made him one of the most sought-after players in the league. Standing at 6-foot-8 and in the prime of his career, the Nets forward is posting career-high numbers across several statistical categories, including points, assists, field goal percentage and 3-point percentage.
The former North Carolina standout’s ability to consistently knock down shots from beyond the arc, combined with his size and physical attributes, makes him highly coveted.
This season, Johnson is averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting an impressive 49.6% from the field, including 43.6% from 3-point range on 7.5 attempts per game. Additionally, he is contributing 4.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game, further solidifying his value.
