In hopes of maximizing their championship window, the LA Lakers are expected to be one of the more active teams ahead of the NBA's trade deadline. LA's front office is looking to add more depth and defense to its roster, but one of its rumored targets might be a little more difficult to acquire.

Rob Pelinka is rumored to be interested in acquiring Cam Johnson from the Brooklyn Nets. But, he is a difficult target as several teams are interested in him.

Aside from the Lakers, nine other teams are reportedly targeting Johnson, according to league insider Brett Siegel. These are the Miami Heat, Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, OKC Thunder and Denver Nuggets.

Cam Johnson is averaging 19.5 points this season while shooting 49.2% overall. He's made 42.9% of his shots from behind the 3-point line on 7.6 attempts per game.

Aside from being a reliable scorer who can effectively stretch the floor, Johnson can be called upon to guard the perimeter. He isn't quick enough to defend guards but has the size to bother shooters and disrupt the passing lanes.

Additionally, he is capable of staying out of foul trouble. This year, he's only averaged 1.9 personal fouls per contest, which is a decent number considering he played 32.9 minutes per game.

All-Star point guard is being linked to the LA Lakers as a potential trade target

The Sacramento Kings appear to have faltered after their triumphant 2022-23 season, where they snapped a 16-year-long Playoff drought. Last season, they missed the postseason after finishing with a 46-36 record.

This year, they are at risk of missing the postseason again as they are 12th in the West with a 13-18 record.

Due to these struggles, All-Star point guard De'Aaron Fox's name has appeared in some trade rumors. On Friday's episode of "The Hoop Collective," Tim McMahon discussed the trade rumors.

According to McMahon, Fox could ask for a trade at which point the San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets could try to acquire him. McMahon added that the LA Lakers could be in the mix. However, he clarified that this rumor likely stems from that LeBron James and De'Aaron Fox share the same agent.

"I've heard Lakers. It's hard for me to tell how much of that is people jumping to conclusions because he's a Klutch client," McMahon said. (44:35).

In terms of general targets, the LA Lakers are reportedly looking to add 3-and-D players, a solid defensive guard and a center. When it comes to specifics, they are rumored to be interested in Washington Wizards big man Jonas Valanciunas as well as Dorian Finney-Smith.
