As NBA trade rumors continue to spiral, one veteran name on the market is big man Jonas Valanciunas. With roughly three weeks to go until the deadline, new developments have surfaced regarding his asking price.
Valanciunas was acquired by the Washington Wizards this offseason as part of a sign-and-trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. Seeing that they're a young team looking to rebuild, the front office is seeking trades for all its veteran talent.
In recent weeks, Valanciunas has garnered interest from teams across the NBA. Most notably, the Golden State Warriors and LA Lakers. Insiders Joshua Robbins and David Aldridge reported on his trade value earlier this week, citing that two second-rounders are likely what it will take to get a deal done.
"If any incoming contract in a Valančiūnas’ deal would not impair the Wizards’ long-term payroll flexibility, then more than one early second-round pick might do the trick. One league source, whose team is not currently involved with the Wizards in discussions about Valančiūnas, believes that two second-rounders will wind up being the maximum Washington can get for him."

The 6-foot-11 big man is signed through this season and the next two at a rather team-friendly price of around $10 million annually. For the Wizards, Valanciunas is averaging 11.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
NBA Trade Rumors: Lakers eyeing center upgrade following recent moves
As mentioned before, the LA Lakers have been one of the teams linked to Jonas Valanciunas in NBA trade rumors. Even with their recent maneuver, the veteran big man is still on their radar.
Earlier this season, the Lakers upgraded their wing depth by acquiring Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton in a trade for D'Angelo Russell. Shortly after this deal was agreed upon, insider Michael Scotto reported that LA will look to use its remaining capital on a frontcourt upgrade like Valanciunas.
"The next item for the Lakers on their list is a backup center. The Lakers will continue to try and acquire Wizards center Jonas Valanciunas or another backup center on the trade market with their remaining future second-round draft capital, and Gabe Vincent is expected to be dangled in talks as well, league sources told HoopsHype."
With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the charge, the Lakers are looking to put themselves in a position to contend for the NBA title. They managed to hang around in the Western Conference, and bolstering their depth would help keep them in a position to compete.
Seeing that Christian Wood remains on the sidelines, the Lakers need more depth at the center position. Valanciunas adds more size next to Davis, and how showed he can be a capable floor spacer at earlier points in his career.
As of now, the Lakers and the rest of the league have roughly three weeks to make any finishing touches to their roster in regards to trades.
