As the trade deadline nears, the Jimmy Butler saga remains the top storyline in the NBA. Recent developments have shown what the Miami Heat seek in exchange for the All-Star forward.

Amid multiple meetings and another suspension, Butler remains intent on getting a change of scenery this season. According to an NBA insider, the Heat have a clear outlook of what they want the return package to look like.

In his latest column, breaking down intel across the NBA, Brian Windhorst touched on Jimmy Butler's ongoing disconnect with the Heat. Regarding what the Heat are eyeing, they want talent who can help now and isn't signed long-term, draft capital, and young players who can aid the franchise in the future.

"The Heat have had conversations with other teams, but so far, the offers coming in haven't included what Miami is looking for: players who can help now, young talent, draft capital and salary that expires by the summer of 2026,” wrote.

With about two weeks until the Feb. 6 deadline, the Phoenix Suns remain tied to Butler in rumors. They recently upped their pool of assets by acquiring a trio of first-round picks in a trade with the Utah Jazz.

Butler played in three games for the Heat since returning from his seven-game suspension. The team recently suspended him for another two games for missing a flight, per reports.

Memphis Grizzlies eye Jimmy Butler despite his minimal desire

Reports emerged early in the Jimmy Butler saga that he told the Heat he'd play anywhere but Miami. The same news has started circulating again, but one team has been left off. On Thursday, insider Marc Spears said on "NBA Today" that Butler will play anywhere that isn't the Memphis Grizzlies.

"His wishlist is just out of Miami," Spears said. "With exception to Memphis. Doesn't want to go to Memphis."

Even though Butler has reportedly made it clear he doesn't want to go to the Grizzlies, they aren't ruling themselves out yet. Brian Windhorst thinks they are one of the teams "lurking" in talks around the Heat star.

“The Grizzlies are lurking in Butler trade talks, sources said, and have been in contact with the Heat during the process," he wrote in his ESPN+ article. "Rival league executives believe Memphis is trying to combine a talent influx with offloading some future salary so it can facilitate a contract extension for Jaren Jackson Jr. as early as this summer."

Currently sitting third in the Western Conference, the Grizzlies could aim to increase their chances of contending this summer. Acquiring a proven star like Butler would make them a threat in a loaded Western Conference. They already have a batch of promising young talent led by Ja Morant. With his track record in the playoffs, Butler could help Memphis Get over the hump.
