The San Antonio Spurs could speed up their process of contending for the playoffs with Victor Wembanyama by pursuing reinforcements via trade. A marquee name has been linked with the esteemed franchise, which the Golden State Warriors are reportedly eyeing, too.

It's none other than Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler. The two-time NBA Finalist, potentially on an expiring $48.7 million contract, is the hottest name in trade circles. The Spurs need another star to elevate their chances of competing in the West to play meaningful basketball in April and seem to be circling on Butler to source their needs.

According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, the San Antonio Spurs, OKC Thunder and the LA Lakers are being quietly mentioned as suitors for Jimmy Butler. The Spurs could dangle Tre Jones and Malaki Branham in a potential package.

Rookie Stephon Castle exceeding expectations could prompt the Spurs to part ways with the two rotation players. Dorian Finney-Smith is another trade option the Spurs could target to bolster their wing depth.

Jimmy Butler would be an excellent fit next to Victor Wembanyama for Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs could soon link Victor Wembanyama with a bonafide All-Star talent. Jimmy Butler appears to be the best player on the market right now. The trade rumors surrounding the six-time All-Star have been persistent, and there's a good chance he will leave Miami.

The Spurs are an enticing destination for him. Butler is one of the most adaptable stars in the league. He can adjust his role based on the team's needs. He would elevate the Spurs on both ends as their best perimeter player. Butler has shown adaptability when playing with efficient bigs, Joel Embiid, Karl-Anthony Towns and Bam Adebayo, with whom he's played next to for five years.

Looking at Victor Wembanyama's offensive ceiling, Jimmy Butler's workload could be much less than with the Miami Heat, who lack the offensive firepower to take the pressure off his shoulders. With more younger pieces around him in San Antonio, Butler might thrive and improve the Spurs' further than just helping them make the postseason.
