NCAA Analyst hails Indiana Hoosiers as they'd defeat UNC: "Indiana didn't give a s**t that they played in the national championship game last year"

North Carolina v Indiana
Trayce Jackson-Davis denying Armando Bacot Wednesday

The Indiana Hoosiers' defense was stout and a welcome site for their home crowd as the Hoosiers dominated the Tar Heels in a 77-65 win. The Tar Heels began the game just 2-of-16 from the field. The Hoosiers went up against a team that was in the NCAA championship game and brought the game to them. With Bacot hurting his shoulder early, Trayce Jackson-Davis established his assertiveness in the paint and dominated.

Trayce-Jackson Davis finished the game with 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and four blocks. When Coach Hubert Davis was asked what the difference was in the game the answer was simple -- "The difference was Trayce-Jackson Davis."

He was effective on both ends of the floor, holding UNC fifth-year senior Armando Bacot to 12 points, 10 rebounds, and zero assists, while also making history.

Jalen Hood-Schfino has struggled to shoot well this season. However, the Pittsburgh native, who spent years in North Carolina growing up, came to play against a team that he probably felt that he should have gotten more attention from. He had the first six points of the game for the Hoosiers, hitting his two 3-pointers of the game to start off the game. Schfino had nothing but high praise for Trayce Jackson-Davis's play on the night.

Carolina's panic meter has risen some

The North Carolina Tar Heels went 1-2 at the Phil Knight Invitational. A tough matchup in the Big Ten ACC at Assembly Hall was a tall task. The Tar Heels are dealing with their backcourt struggle as they cannot seem to find a consistent rhythm. Caleb Love and RJ Davis only combined for 24 points in the game. One of their lowest totals combined totals when both players play over 30+ minutes.

Armando Bacot was already nursing an ankle injury, and now with a strained shoulder, it has the Carolina faithful worried about his health as the Tar Heels are going through a tough stretch of games, where they need their lead big man to be effective. They have a competitive Hokies team that they will travel to play Sunday. Then they have a needed six days' rest.

The Hoosiers will take on Rutgers tomorrow in the Scarlet Knights gym, a competitive feisty team that Jackson has the opportunity to show his dominance in the paint once again. Two teams that are going in two different directions, but by March, this could be a Sweet 16 match-up as well.
