"Needs to go practice defense" - Fans troll Luka Doncic after Giannis Antetokounmpo-led Greece eliminate Slovenia from Olympic Qualifiers

Fans trolled Luka Doncic on social media after the Dallas Mavericks star's Slovenia failed to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The European star and his team fell against Giannis Antetokounmpo's Greece in the semifinal of the Olympic qualifier on Saturday.

Fans wrote on X that Doncic had to work on his defense for the next season.

"Luka need to start defensive drills right now for next NBA season," a fan wrote.

"He needs to go practice defense for a couple of months," a fan said.

Alluding to his place in the MVP voting, a fan trolled him for getting false calls.

"Looks like that MVP-caliber playstyle doesn’t work when you don’t have corrupt refs on your side," a fan wrote.

Some fans were concerned with the amount of basketball Doncic had played in the last few months and asked him to get some rest.

"I’m actually relieved cause Luka needs to sit down somewhere and just rest up," a fan wrote.

Kenyon Martin once slammed Luka Doncic for his poor defense

Luka Doncic elevated his defense in the NBA playoffs last season. However, his apparent lack of interest in defense over the years didn’t help him switch things up quickly. The Boston Celtics targeted the Mavs superstar when it came to defense in this NBA Finals.

Former New Jersey Nets player and No.1 pick in the 2000 NBA draft, Kenyon Martin, said last year that Doncic is not the best player on his team.

"He's the fourth-best player in the NBA compared to the bull**it list from another day and in the MVP conversation. In my opinion, he's not the best player on his basketball team," Martin said on Gil's Arena.

Martin added that if Doncic were to be put against Kyrie Irving, he wouldn’t even be able to touch the ball.

However, Martin agreed that Luka Doncic is one of the best players in the league on the offensive end of the floor.
