The New Orleans Pelicans face a tough test on Sunday against the defending champions Boston Celtics. While Jayson Tatum and Co. are struggling momentarily with two huge losses against the Sacramento Kings and OKC Thunder in their past three games, they are still widely perceived as the team to beat.

Nevertheless, the Pelicans are a relatively healthy team amid an 8-30 injury-riddled season. New Orleans has found some continuity lately with three wins in five games, including one of their best outcomes of the year against the Philadelphia 76ers in their previous outing.

Zion Williamson, who has returned from a hamstring injury, was suspended for violating team policies. But that didn't impact New Orleans, especially with in-form guards Dejounte Murray and CJ McCollum leading the ship. Murray had 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, while McCollum had 38 points on 13 of 24 shots. Jordan Hawkins also stepped up with 21 points on 7 of 15 shots.

The Celtics would be a different challenge altogether, but if these two players go off, that game could swing either way. Boston is coming off a blowout loss against the Kings sans De'Aaron Fox, so it's a realistic possibility to beat Jayson Tatum and Co. for the Pelicans, too.

New Orleans Pelicans injury report: Zion Williamson's return status, Dejounte Murray iffy to suit up

The New Orleans Pelicans have gotten slightly healthy over the past few weeks but still have three players injured ahead of the key matchup against the Boston Celtics. Dejounte Murray is questionable with right elbow tendinitis and shin contusion injuries. Meanwhile, Brandon Ingram remains sidelined with a left ankle sprain, and Herbert Jones is out with a right shoulder strain.

The good news for the Pelicans is that Zion Williamson is not on the injury report after serving a suspension last game. Among other absentees, Keion Brooks Jr. is not with the team, and Antonio Reeves is on G League assignment.
