After falling to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, the LA Lakers bounced back with a commanding 124-108 win over the injury-depleted New Orleans Pelicans on Friday, climbing to the No. 3 spot in the Western Conference standings.

Luka Doncic led the charge for the Lakers, dropping 35 points, six rebounds and six assists on 10-for-21 shooting — a major bounce-back from his 19-point, 6-for-17 performance the night before.
Austin Reaves caught fire, putting up 30 points on just 13 shots, while LeBron James added 27 points along with eight assists.
With the victory, the Lakers improved to 47-30, moving ahead of both the No. 4 Denver Nuggets (47-31) and the No. 5 Golden State Warriors (46-31) in the West.

The Pelicans, who rank second to last in the conference, were severely shorthanded, missing Jordan Hawkins, CJ McCollum, Dejounte Murray, Zion Williamson, Brandon Boston, Herbert Jones and Trey Murphy III.
Still, they battled, led by Jose Alvarado’s 27 points, with Karlo Matkovic chipping in 15 and the duo of Yves Missi and Kelly Olynyk combining for 25.

From there, it was all Lakers as they closed the half with a 17-9 run, leading 62-53 at halftime. Luka Doncic and LeBron James both had 13 points in the first half, with Dalton Knecht adding 12 and Austin Reaves contributing 11.
For the Pelicans, Alvarado led the way with 18 points.
The third quarter was evenly matched at 31-31, but the Lakers stepped on the gas in the fourth, outscoring the Pelicans by seven to lock in a key double-digit win that could prove crucial in playoff positioning.
