Jalen Brunson is questionable to face the Memphis Grizzlies when the New York Knicks travel to Tennessee on Saturday. The veteran guard is dealing with a left calf contusion. It's worth noting that Brunson hasn't missed a game for the Knicks all season.
Mitchell Robinson, however, remains out of the Knicks rotation. The impressive big man is recovering from ankle surgery. However, there is now hope he will return to the Knicks rotation before the end of the season.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Knicks were denied a disabled player exception for Robinson's absence, which would have been worth $7.2 million. League doctors were unable to find "sufficient evidence" that Robinson would miss six months or more of playing time.

Robinson has played in 21 games for the Knicks this season, averaging 6.2 points and 10.3 rebounds on 59.2% shooting. The big man is often underutilized within the Knicks' offensive system. Nevertheless, his size and athleticism make him a fantastic vertical spacer on the floor, especially in the dunker spot or when rolling to the rim.
Knicks fans will undoubtedly be hoping to see Robinson return to the rotation this season. They will want to see how their frontcourt trio of Robinson, Julius Randle, and OG Anunoby look together as a complete unit.
Jalen Brunson is playing like an All-Star for the New York Knicks
Jalen Brunson is putting up All-Star-level numbers for the New York Knicks. In his 38 games so far, the veteran guard is averaging 25.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.4 assists on 46.9% shooting and 42.4% shooting from 3-point range.
During December, there was a lot of talk regarding Brunson's lack of size. Becky Hammon originally began the conversation when discussing Brunson's play and how the New York Knicks can improve during a December 21 episode of NBA Today.
Rather than getting caught up in the controversy over Hammon's comments, Brunson has continued to play elite-level basketball. His presence within the Knicks rotation ensures they have a high-level shotmaker who can take control of games in the clutch. He is also thriving as the team's primary ball-handler and shot-creator.
Last season, Brunson narrowly missed out on making the All-Star team. This year, he currently sits sixth in fan voting for this year's All-Star team after two rounds. Unless he can put in some stellar performances between now and February, Brunson may once again miss out on an All-Star selection.
However, whether he's voted into the All-Star team or not, Brunson has helped transform the Knicks offense. Sooner or later, he will get recognition for what he's doing in New York and how he's helping them become a team capable of contending for a deep playoff push.
