The first game on the NBA schedule for Wednesday night is the New York Knicks versus Philadelphia 76ers matchup at Wells Fargo Center. Both teams entered the game without their best big man on the lineup. Karl-Anthony Towns has a sprained right thumb, while Joel Embiid has a left foot sprain.
It was up to Jalen Brunson and Tyrese Maxey to carry the load for their team, respectively. Tonight's game was the second meeting of the season between the Knicks and Sixers. New York won 111-99 on Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden.
The game wasn't as easy as it was then despite the Knicks' dominance in the first half. Philly chipped into the lead little by little in the third quarter plus some heroics by Maxey to force overtime. However, New York had more firepower in the extra period led by Brunson.

New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers Game Summary
The Philadelphia 76ers tried their best to go toe-to-toe with the New York Knicks, especially with Karl-Anthony Towns and Joel Embiid absent. However, Maxey got in foul trouble, so Paul George had to carry the load for the latter half of the first quarter.
Mikal Bridges was feeling it, scoring 10 points, while Jalen Brunson had nine points to give the Knicks a 30-21 lead after the first 12 minutes. The second quarter was no different, with New York continuing to pull away.
"PG" did his best to keep the Sixers afloat, scoring 12 points in the first half. Maxey only had six points, missing nine of his 12 shots. Bridges added six more to his tally, while Miles McBride contributed 10 points already off the bench as the Knicks built a 60-47 advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter, it appeared as though the New York Knicks were going to cruise to an easy victory. Tyrese Maxey came alive and started taking over the game and the Philadelphia 76ers continued to inch close as Wells Fargo Center's energy went through the roof.
The game was close in the fourth period, with Maxey scoring the final six points of regulation to send it to overtime tied at 109. He scored a layup with three seconds remaining to force the deadlock. OG Anunoby missed a stepback jumper at the buzzer.
However, the Philadelphia 76ers lost steam in the extra five minutes and looked exhausted. Jalen Brunson took over, scoring seven of his 38 points in overtime to give the New York Knicks the 125-119 victory.
