Let it be known, Derrick Rose doesn't want Jerry Reinsdorf, his son Michael Reinsdorf, or anyone else from the Chicago Bulls front office green-lighting a statue of him.
After seeing Dwyane Wade's statue unveiling in Miami, which sparked a slew of memes and jokes about how the statue doesn't look like the Heat legend, Rose wants it to be known that he's fine without a statue.
Ahead of the honorary "Derrick Rose Night" planned for Saturday, when the Bulls host Tom Thibodeau and the New York Knicks, former Bulls star Taj Gibson said Rose deserves a statue.
In an interview with ESPN's Shams Charania at his one-day-only pop-up flower shop in Chicago on Thursday, Rose shot down talk of a statue.

"The statue, the way people been creating statues I do not want no statue. No statue. Jerry, no statue bro. Please, Michael, no statue. ... The jersey retired, I would love that. That would be my way of getting close to the Top 75."
While so far the Chicago Bulls front office hasn't given any indication that they plan on retiring Rose's jersey, Bulls fans have retired No. 1 in Rose's honor. Back in 2016, Michael Carter-Williams briefly wore No. 1 before fan backlash led to him picking a different number.
Then, the next season, Anthony Morrow briefly wore No. 1 before Bulls fans created a stir. This led to Morrow issuing an apology online and changing his jersey number.
Since then, no player has worn No. 1 in Chicago, making it clear that regardless of whether or not the franchise plans to retire Rose's jersey, the city has.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson makes Jan. 4 Derrick Rose Day in Chicago
On Friday, ahead of Saturday's highly anticipated game between the Bulls and the Knicks, where the franchise will honor Derrick Rose, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has signed a proclamation making Jan. 4 Derrick Rose Day in Chicago.
A photo of the proclamation was shared on social media by a Chicago Bulls fan page and then reposted by NBA Central. The proclamation references Rose's basketball career, spanning back to his days at Simeon Academy in Chicago, where he cemented himself as a top player in the country.
Additionally, it also highlights his accomplishments with the Bulls:
"During his first season with the Bulls, Derrick Rose helped lead the Bulls back to the playoffs earning him Rookie of the Year honors in 2009 and leading to him being named the youngest league MVP ever during the 2010-2011 NBA season."
Given that Jan. 4 has now been proclaimed Derrick Rose Day in Chicago, the team's front office may decide to retire the standout guard's jersey after all.
Since October, when talks of Rose's jersey getting retired first popped up, there have been no updates on the franchise's stance on the situation.
