The Golden State Warriors hosted the Sacramento Kings on Sunday, and the Dubs' lackluster start allowed the visitors to take a stranglehold of the game before cruising to a lopsided 129-99 victory. Warriors coach Steve Kerr benched Steph Curry in the fourth quarter as the Kings comfortably blew away the Dubs.

With 5:29 left in the game and the Kings leading 117-84, a fan wearing a Warriors jersey was spotted changing into a Kings jersey. The young fan put on a Domantas Sabonis jersey to cover a Curry uniform.

Fans promptly reacted to the scene:

“Nobody bandwagons like the bay”

One fan said:

“San Francisco Warriors fans**”

Another fan reacted:

“That's called hedging your bets. Smart kid. Never buy naked calls!”

One fan asked:

"So your saying all the kings fans are actually warriors fans 😂"

@se7enwordsmx did not hold back:

“Plastic fans”

“converting one at a time…”

Over the years, particularly during the Golden State Warriors dynasty, many called the team’s supporters bandwagon fans. The Kings, which have a home court roughly an hour away from Chase Center, have had interesting battles over the last three years with the Dubs. During their thrilling seven-game playoff series in 2023, Kings and Warriors fans regularly and often testily blasted each other.

Every time these two teams meet, X, formerly Twitter, usually lights up with not-always-friendly back and forth. On Sunday, it was no different as the Kings whipped the Warriors despite Steph Curry’s impressive shooting.

The Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings will meet thrice more in the regular season

The I-80 W rival teams met for the first time on Sunday. Fans who highly anticipated the encounter will get three more games between the two. The rematch will be on Jan. 22 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. They will face each other again a month later in the same venue before a final showdown in the Bay Area in mid-March.

The blowout win by the Sacramento Kings on Sunday was the first decisive victory in the head-to-head duel since 2023. Last season, the Golden State Warriors won the season series 3-1 but three games were decided by one point. Revenge by the Dubs on the Kings’ home floor in the rematch will not be impossible.

The Kings (17-19) and the Warriors (18-17) are currently ninth and 11th in the West, respectively, and could end up vying for play-in spots. No one will be surprised if the rematch will be more competitive and contentious than the last tussle between the two.
