"Not doing enough for me": LaVar Ball reveals excessive 'LaMelo Ball' attention made Lonzo Ball join Rich Paul and Klutch Sports

Lonzo and LaMelo Ball are the first brothers in the NBA to be both drafted within the top three picks. Lonzo went second back in 2017 and LaMelo was selected third in 2020. Their father LaVar Ball did everything he could during the brothers' growing years to make it into the league and represent top companies and agencies in the industry.

Both Lonzo and LaMelo Ball initially represented Roc Nation, an entertainment agency owned by prominent rapper Jay-Z. However, there came a time when Lonzo felt like Roc Nation was too fixated on his younger brother due to all the hype that surrounded him at the time he was drafted. As a result, he decided to part ways and join Rich Paul with Klutch Sports.

In a recent episode of VladTV, LaVar Ball said (at timestamp 2:49):

"Lonzo was like 'Okay Roc Nation, you guys are more fixated on what's going on with Melo being the top pick but you're not doing enough for me, so now, Imma go over here with Klutch.'"

Is LaMelo Ball a better player than his brother Lonzo?

Back in 2017, LaVar Ball stirred up a lot of hype for his son Lonzo before the latter got drafted second overall by the LA Lakers. LaVar made bold predictions that his eldest son would take over the league and become one of the brightest stars in NBA history. Unfortunately, Lonzo never lived up to his father's expectations but has managed to become one of the best playmakers in the league today.

However, it was a different story when it was LaMelo Ball's turn to enter the league. Drafted third overall back in 2020, the youngest Ball didn't carry the same chip on his shoulder that his brother Lonzo did. While LaVar was just as supportive of his younger son, LaMelo did things his way and carved a path into an immediate superstar career.

In only his second season, LaMelo notched his first All-Star nod, averaging 20.1 points, 7.6 assists, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.6 steals. The numbers he produced for the Charlotte Hornets in his sophomore year are already better than Lonzo Ball's entire career combined. The one thing the Ball brothers have in common is being injury-prone.

Having said that, it's safe to say that LaMelo Ball is a superior player compared to his older brother Lonzo. At the same time, Lonzo is no pushover and isn't someone to take lightly. The elder Ball arguably has better court vision and is slightly more active on defense compared to LaMelo. If we set the numbers aside, both siblings are valuable pieces for their teams.
