Gary Trent Jr. is one of the remaining top free agents on the market although his camp might have overestimated his value. Trent is reportedly seeking a contract with an annual salary of around $25 million. NBA fans on social media think there's a team for him not named the LA Lakers.
According to Josh Lewenberg of TSN, the Toronto Raptors tried to bring back Trent with an annual salary of $15 million but it was turned down. His camp was looking to get an increase from his $18.5 million salary last season to about $25 million.
It's quite possibly one of the reasons why Trent remains unsigned and he could be forced to take a massive pay cut. Lewenberg even pointed out that the 25-year-old guard would be lucky to receive the mid-level exception valued at $12.5 million, which is significantly lower than his asking price.

NBA fans believe that there will be teams interested in Gary Trent Jr. although they won't be signing him to the contract he wanted. Some even made fun of the LA Lakers, which has not made any impactful signings this offseason.
It should be pointed out that Caleb Martin turned down a five-year, $65 million extension from the Miami Heat only to sign a four-year, $32 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
"Not the Lakers," a fan wrote.
"Lower the asking price and there would be a lot of suitors," one fan suggested.
"Lakers sign him and he turns into a 27% 3pt shooter trust," another fan commented.
Others suggested teams such as the Denver Nuggets, Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers as potential destinations for Gary Trent Jr. Those teams don't have a lot of cap space left, so Trent might have to settle for a discounted deal.
"Fair contract would be $7M a year for 1-2 years. Gives him a chance to prove he deserves more if he wants to go that route. A lot of contenders can use him as a potential spark plug but that’s about it," a fan remarked.
"Nuggets," one fan suggested.
"I could see him in a Bucks or Clippers jersey," another fan predicted.
Gary Trent Jr. coming off a down season
In his final season with the Toronto Raptors, Gary Trent Jr. had a down campaign after averaging just 13.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Trent's minutes have also gone down and were even more limited when the Raptors acquired Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett.
The Duke product brings a lot to the table like his 3-point shooting. He's also one of the best players in stealing the basketball, while also providing limited playmaking. His skill set is suited for a sixth man, but could also be a serviceable starter.
The Denver Nuggets, LA Clippers and Milwaukee Bucks all need a new starting shooting guard though Trent is a little undersized. Also, the three teams mentioned don't have enough money to fulfill the contract he desires.
