Reed Sheppard knows his first NBA team after weeks of rumors and speculation. Sheppard's name was the third called after Zaccharie Risacher and Alex Sarr, respectively, with the Houston Rockets making the call for the Kentucky Wildcats guard on Wednesday night.

Considered one of the best shooters in this year's draft, Sheppard carries high expectations after showcasing his talents in college. Fans consider this a good pick, but some still want to see more moves from the Houston front office.

As soon as the pick was announced, plenty of fans took to social media to react. One mentioned that the Rockets should trade for Kevin Durant to get in line to compete for an NBA championship next season.

"Now trade for KD and win it all," a person wrote.

More fans lauded the selection, saying that Sheppard brings something to the table that the Rockets need.

"Great pickup for the squad! We need the shooting and scoring and Sheppard definitely brings that!" one fan tweeted.
"This dude can score!!! 🔥," somebody else wrote.

Others were surprised by the decision and didn't hesitate to show their shock and discomfort with the selection.

"Insanity… shows how weak of a draft this is," one user said.

Reed Sheppard is a terrific 3-point shooter who shot an impressive 52.1% from deep in his lone season with Kentucky. He was compared to Fred VanVleet ahead of the draft, and now they'll be teammates at Toyota Center. The Rockets were already a dangerous team last season, and their fans think they are a couple of pieces away from championship contention.

Can the Rockets pair Reed Sheppard with Kevin Durant this summer?

Before the Rockets selected Reed Sheppard with the No. 3 pick, ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski made a revelation that shocked a lot of fans. The Rockets reportedly wanted to trade for Kevin Durant and could use the picks the Phoenix Suns lost when they landed Durant from the Nets to make it happen.

"The implications of the Rockets landing the Suns' picks? Houston wants to trade for Kevin Durant, and that becomes far easier if they can return the Suns' picks that they gave up in the Durant deal to the Nets. Suns have said they're keeping Durant for now, but that could change next season. But now Houston has the picks to make the Suns whole again," Wojnarowski reported on Tuesday.

This is an exciting prospect for the Rockets, who have a solid young core that can compete against almost anybody in the West, and the addition of Reed Sheppard makes them a bigger threat for next season.
