The Boston Celtics used a new strategy on their way to a comfortable 121-94 win over the Orlando Magic on Friday. Boston, which leads the NBA with nearly 50 3-point attempts per game, was selective with their shots from deep. They made 17-for-37 triples for a sizzling 45.9% and overwhelm Orlando's 5-for-32 clip.

Jayson Tatum scored 20 of his 30 points in the first half before Jaylen Brown took over in the third quarter. The Celtics got contributions from across the roster to even the season series to 1-1 against Orlando.

The injury-decimated Magic gamely fought in the first half, but couldn't overcome the disparity in firepower. Without Moe Wagner, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, Jett Howard and Goga Bitadze, Orlando had trouble generating points. Boston collapsed on Paolo Banchero almost every time the star forward had the ball.

Banchero finished the game with 21 points on 8-for-21 shots. Cole Anthony gave the Magic a lift with 23 points, seven rebounds and one steal.

Orlando Magic vs Boston Celtics Game Summary

The Orlando Magic faced the Boston Celtics again on Friday. A win by the Magic would give them the season series for just the third time in the last 10 years against the Celtics. Orlando entered the contest without injured players Moe Wagner, Franz Wagner, Goga Bitadze, Gary Harris and Jalen Suggs.

Jayson Tatum welcomed the visitors with five points and four assists in the first quarter. Kristaps Porzingis opened the period with 11 points, helping the Celtics to a 35-28 lead.

Tatum sustained his hot start and added 15 points in the second quarter to finish with 20 at halftime. Kristaps Porzingis added 14 points in 16 minutes. Boston took 15 shots from deep but made nine of them. The Celtics led 66-54 at the end of two quarters.

Paolo Banchero kept the Magic in the game, finishing the half with 14 points, three rebounds and three assists. Wendell Carter Jr. and Cole Anthony combined for 24 points, 11 rebounds and one assist.

Jaylen Brown took over for the Boston Celtics in the third quarter. The shooting guard had 11 points and two assists to take advantage of the Orlando Magic’s focus on Jayson Tatum. Brown’s play helped the defending champs to a 96-76 lead with 12 minutes left.

Tatum and Derrick White responded to Orlando’s attempt early in the final quarter to mount a rally. Boston’s second-stringers came in to close the game out. The Celtics comfortably reached the finish line to win 121-94.
