There are still multiple weeks until the trade deadline which could dramatically shift the landscape of the NBA and how people feel certain executives have been doing their jobs. At the moment, Trajan Langdon of the Detroit Pistons has odds of +250 according to Bovada, which suggests he is the strong favorite for the award.
Pat Riley, one of just four individuals to win both Executive of the Year and Coach of the Year, has the lowest odds at +50,000. The odds have drawn reactions of all kinds from fans, many poking fun at Riley's placing in light of the Jimmy Butler trade-demand saga.
"Pat Riley has the lowest odds to win executive of the year at +50000" said a Miami Heat fan account on X.
Another X user said, "Pat Riley😂😂😂😂 time to give up."
"Pat Riley dead last", one commentor wrote.
Most commenters who noticed Riley's placement on the list responded with humor and indifference toward the legendary NBA figure. While others spared Riley from outright mockery, some still took a sarcastic approach to their reactions.
"lol Pat Riley bout to cook just watch", one fan said.
"pat riley is favorites to win worst executive of the year: -50000", a commentor wrote on X.
Other users took to the comments to advocate for their team's executives and make arguments for why they should win.
"Pistons had the best offseason this summer and took one of the worsts teams ever into a possible playoff team instantly", one fan said, referencing award favorite Trajan Langdon.
"Cleveland should have Executive of the Year and Coach of the Year on locks barring a disastrous second half of the season", said an X user despite not naming which Cavalier executive should win.
Knicks' Leon Rose has a case for NBA Executive of the Year
Another standout among the list of odds for the NBA's Executive of the Year award is Leon Rose. Rose, a sports agent and president of the New York Knicks, currently has the second-highest odds at +400, per Bovada.
Rose already has an accomplished career but he's been perhaps the most active executive in the past year. As the Knicks have overhauled their roster and made many significant changes, Rose is responsible for bringing in OG Anunoby, Mikal Bridges, and Karl-Anthony Towns. These additions have elevated the Knicks into being serious championship contenders in the eyes of many.
The Knicks are currently No. 3 in the East at 26-14. If they continue to be one of the best teams in the conference, it will reflect well on Rose as an executive as well as his chances to win the award.
