Patrick Beverley checks Barstool owner over Angel Reese-Caitlin Clark comments: "Stay out of women's business"

Patrick Beverley, one of the NBA's loudest players, used his words to once again call out Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy for his comments about Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese on Sunday. Beverley tweeted a short reply to Portnoy’s commentary on Reese’s flagrant foul versus Clark in their game between the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever.

“@stoolpresidente let’s stay out of Women business. Happy Fathers Day🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️,” Beverley wrote.

After Reese smacked Clark in the head during Clark's layup attempt, Portnoy vilified the Chicago Sky rookie, calling Reese “so g**damn dirty” and her action a “cheap shot.”

“Angel Reese, Chicago Sky, the dirtiest players in the game,” Portnoy said.

Patrick Beverley hosts a podcast called “The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone” under Barstool Sports, keeping a friendly relationship with Portnoy.

Officials initially deemed Reese’s contact as a common foul but upgraded that to a flagrant-1 violation. Clark went on to make two free throws and take a 91-83 win for Indiana's second victory against Chicago this season.

Caitlin Clark finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and eight assists to lead the Indiana Fever, while Angel Reese put up 11 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Patrick Beverley calls out Dave Portnoy for remarks on Angel Reese during her NCAA days

Angel Reese’s incident on Sunday was not the first time her antics directly affected Caitlin Clark. During their matchup in the 2023 NCAA championship game, Reese taunted Clark with the famous John Cena’s “You Can’t See Me” hand gesture near the end of the game. Clark had used the same gesture earlier in the tournament.

While Reese and the LSU Tigers beat Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes 102-85, the interaction sparked conversations on race and women's sports.

Barstool Sports owner and founder Dave Portnoy, who is white, called Reese, who is Black, a “classless piece of s***.” In turn, Beverley, who is Black, criticized Portnoy. Clark is white.

“Hey, Dave Portnoy you can't do that," Beverley said. "You can't say that about her. It’s competition. You s**t on people all the time. Literally. S**t on people. Somebody doing it, that’s a different race, a different gender.
"Everything is great. Everything is OK. It brings out the competition. You gotta let that ride. 'Cause I didn’t hear anything from you when (LA Lakers guard) Austin Reaves (who is white) gave me the “too little.'”

Despite the flareup, Barstool Sports and Beverley continued their partnership as Beverley continued to rack up viewers across different platforms.
