Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum was the subject of conversation on this week's episode of the Pat Bev Pod when Brandon Jenning's comments on the former Duke Blue Devil was put in front of Patrick Beverley. The negative words directed at Tatum triggered a swift reaction from Beverley, who defended the Celtics' leader, showing respect for his talent on the court.

The criticism towards Tatum came from Brandon Jennings, a former NBA guard who played nine years in the league with six different teams. He now co-hosts alongside Gilbert Arenas on the Gil's Arena podcast. Beverley played in the NBA for 12 years with eight different teams and has been a co-host of the titular Pat Bev Pod since 2022.

On Wednesday's episode of the Pat Bev Pod, Beverley and co-host Adam Ferrone talked about the comments made by Jennings concerning Tatum and his demeanor.

"I think he called him the softest Celtic superstar," said Ferrone, reciting Brandon Jenning's quote that called out Tatum.

Beverley responded quickly, dismissing Jennings' comments as those made by a former player from a time in which the NBA considered itself to be a tougher place. He defended Jayson Tatum's attitude, saying:

"Just because you can see him yelling and you can see his tattoos don't mean he's soft," said Beverley on the jabs from Brandon Jennings at Jayson Tatum.

Beverley went on to compliment Tatum's talent, mentioning that just because he doesn't look the part of the tough guy doesn't mean that he isn't.

"He doesn't look like the normal tough guy, doesn't mean that he's not tough. I mean, he gets it done. He literally gets it done," said Beverley of Tatum's leadership and toughness.

Patrick Beverley brought up the difference of eras in the NBA when talking about how past players view those currently playing. He explained that while Tatum may not be a player who physically intimidates on the court, his track record is proof that he is a threat in every game he plays.

Will Jayson Tatum's leadership style continue to lead the Celtics to success?

Ever since he entered the league eight years ago, Jayson Tatum has been one of the most successful players in the entire NBA, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals five times and the NBA Finals twice, securing a championship last season. He has grown into the leader of the Boston Celtics alongside Jaylen Brown and continues to lead them to wins. The team is 28-12 ahead of their Friday night clash in Orlando against the Magic, good for the second seed in the East behind the Cleveland Cavaliers.

If Tatum continues to lead the Celtics to success, his toughness can't be denied.
