Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers were bounced out of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics, who emerged as eventual champions. As if trying to recover from the disappointing loss, “Spida” has been having an eventful summer.
A few days ago, Mitchell’s sixth signature sneaker, the “D.O.N.” Issue 6, was released by Adidas. The five-time All-Star used different colorways of the shoes during the entire playoffs. On Friday, it was finally made available to the public.
Besides the coming out of his latest shoes, Donovan Mitchell was also in the headlines during the Fourth of July. He was invited to Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin’s annual and exclusive “White Party” at the Hamptons. The party in Bridgehampton, New York, was attended by megastars like Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio and more.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers superstar brought along his sister Jordan Mitchell to the event.

Jordan was also captured spending time with Grammy Award-winning artist Coco Jones. The "ICU" singer and Donovan are rumored to be dating after being spotted going out on a few occasions. Neither have confirmed nor denied those reports, though.
Mitchell wasn’t the only NBA player who made it to the ultra-exclusive party. Paolo Banchero, Tyrese Haliburton, Grant Williams, Mo Bamba, Kyle Kuzma, PJ Tucker and others were also at the event.
Michael Rubin and Sam Merrill reacted to Donovan Mitchell’s “White Party” Instagram photos
Michael Rubin had the who’s who of guests for his Fourth of July party at the Hamptons. It wasn’t lost on anyone that he had big-time guests like Tom Brady, Drake, Megan Fox, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott and Megan Thee Stallion, among others. Still, Rubin took time to respond to Donovan Mitchell’s Instagram photos that showed glimpses of the event.
The billionaire and former co-owner of the Philadelphia 76ers reacted to the basketball star’s Instagram pictures from the "White Party" and commented:
“One for the ages !!”
Michael Rubin’s feedback was quite expected, but Sam Merrill’s wasn’t. One of Donovan Mitchell’s Cleveland Cavaliers teammates stole the thunder from everyone with his comment:
“How do you get an invite and I don’t.”
Merrill and Mitchell have developed a close friendship over the past two seasons. The former Utah Jazz star even wore Merrill’s jersey when the shooting guard participated in the NBA 3-point shootout contest. The backup guard’s comments surprised many based on the reactions. It was refreshing to see the team’s franchise cornerstone get trolled on social media by a second-stringer.
