Despite the New York Knicks' less-than-stellar record for almost a decade, they are still one of the NBA’s most popular teams. Madison Square Garden, their home floor, still attracts some of the planet's hottest stars and most recognizable names.
Back in October 2021 the Knicks hosted the Orlando Magic in their iconic arena and had two of their most energetic fans in the building. Noah Schnapp and Gaten Matarazzo, the stars of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, wore their loyalty on their sleeves that night.
Filming for season four had just ended when New York native Schnapp and New Jersey-raised Matarazzo cheered for their favorite team.

It was just the third game of the season for the Knicks. They were previously unbeaten before losing 110-104 to the Orlando Magic when Schnapp and Matarazzo were in attendance.
Julius Randle led the Knicks’ losing effort with 30 points, 16 rebounds, three assists, two steals and four blocks. The legendary Derrick Rose also showed up, dropping 23 points to go with five rebounds and three assists in 29 minutes.
It was an exciting game from start to finish, with both teams trading runs until the Magic’s blistering fourth quarter settled the score. Noah Schnapp and Gaten Matarazzo got what they came for that night. They were able to enjoy themselves, the raucous Garden crowd and the basketball of the New York Knicks.
Schnapp returned to Madison Square Garden four months after going there with Matarazzo. He was courtside again on Feb. 14 when the Knicks lost 127-123 in overtime to the OKC Thunder. The young superstar wasn’t alone in this one either.
Schnapp went to the game with another “Stranger Things” star, David Harbour, who brought his daughter with him as well. Season four hadn’t been released at that time, which allowed both stars to hype up the release of the said series.
The Jumbotron featured Harbour’s phone with the message: “ST4 is coming soon, promise.” The highly-anticipated series was released on May 27, 2022.
Noah Schnapp and David Harbour are huge fans of the New York Knicks. Perhaps they’ll let Gaten Matarazzo tag along with them one of these days.
The New York Knicks are repaying the faith of fans such as Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo and David Harbour this season
Only true and loyal New York Knicks fans can continue rooting for a team that has repeatedly frustrated and caused them sleepless nights. The franchise is making its fans proud again this season.
After last season’s horrendous showing, they’re back to where they’re supposed to belong - in playoff contention.
They hold a 21-18 record, which puts them sixth in the loaded Eastern Conference. After losing five consecutive games, they are now on a three-game winning streak. They are 11-5 in their last 16 games and are looking like a legit playoff team.
If the regular season were to end today, the New York Knicks would be firmly in the postseason. As the sixth seed, they will be facing the hottest team in the NBA, their inter-city rival, the Brooklyn Nets.
The NBA is more fun when the Knicks are relevant. New York’s showing this season ensures that fans such as Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo and David Harbour will take time to cheer them on.
