"Playing basketball after not being able to walk": Fans react to Luka Doncic's terrific display against Brazil in friendly ahead of Olympic qualifiers

Luka Doncic appeared in his first game after the 2024 NBA Finals loss against the Boston Celtics earlier this month. The Dallas Mavericks superstar exhibited his unrivaled skillset during Slovenia's friendly against Brazil at the Stozice Arena in Ljubljana on Friday. Doncic was exceptional on the night and the 1-time NBA scoring champion led Slovenia to an 86-80 victory.

Luka Doncic delivered a vintage performance, one that fans have become accustomed to watching from the Slovenian superstar in the NBA. The 25-year-old dropped 32 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists in 31:36 minutes on the floor.

The 5-time NBA All-Star also had two steals against Brazil. Doncic shot 11-of-19 from the field but his struggles from the 3-point range continued. The Slovenian shot 2-of-8 from beyond the arc.

Hoops fans reacted to Doncic's stupendous outing against Brazil in an international friendly game. A couple of irate X users criticized Doncic's performance and compared his outing on Friday to his NBA Finals display.

"Against bums no one is impressed LMAOOO," mocked a fan.

"Couldn’t win in the finals tho LMAOOO," commented another X user.

One of the fans voiced surprise at Doncic's performance, particularly because the Mavericks' superstar didn't look 100 percent during the NBA Finals.

"This man still playing basketball after not being able to walk after NBA Finals games is nuts lol."

Another fan lauded Doncic's commitment toward basketball and the national team while taking a subtle jibe at Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum.

"Only been a few weeks since he made Tatum his finals son and he’s already wrecking other teams in the Slovenia jersey."

A couple of fans urged Doncic to rest and enjoy life after a lengthy postseason run in the NBA.

Doncic is getting ready to spearhead Slovenia's charge in the upcoming pre-Olympic qualifier tournament, scheduled to be played between July 2 and July 7 in Piraeus, Greece.

Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks were beaten in five games by Boston Celtics in the recently-concluded NBA Finals. Doncic led both teams in scoring but his impact was not as lethal as it generally is.

The Mavericks poster boy was banged up throughout the NBA Finals. Doncic reportedly received a pain-killing injection for a thoracic contusion ahead of Game 2 against Boston. Apart from that, the 25-year-old was also having trouble with his knee and ankle.

Despite the challenges, Doncic averaged 29.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and 5.6 assists in the finals.
