With the upcoming US presidential elections getting closer, Vice President and presidential nominee Kamala Harris appeared on the "All the Smoke" podcast, according to Semafor senior editor Maxwell Tani. It was a move commended by "Pod Save America" host Tommy Vietor, as it is a way for Harris to widen her audience and to do it on a platform that highlights NBA stories and issues.

Vietor commented under Tani's post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"This is a very smart show to do," Vietor said. "Big audience. Folks who might not otherwise be consuming political news. A very good use of time."

The "All The Smoke" podcast has been successful in giving athletes a platform where they can share their perspectives on certain topics, which could prove to be a great avenue for the United States VP to take.

This is an intriguing move from the presidential candidate following news of Harris' decision to accept the CNN debate. She also participated in the ABC presidential debate with candidate Donald Trump.

The podcast originally started in October 2019 with former Warriors teammates Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson being the two hosts of the show. It ended up becoming a hit, providing interviews with NBA athletes.

Steadily, the podcast increased its fanbase, with over 389k views on YouTube. The episodes are also available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The "All The Smoke" social media team has also expanded its reach by establishing a presence on Instagram, Tik Tok and X.

"All The Smoke" podcast host Matt Barnes

Back when "All The Smoke" host Matt Barnes appeared on the "Miss Understood with Rachel Uchitel" podcast, he expressed his vision to run for office by the time he hit 50s. The episode was released on July 23, 2023.

"I gave myself a goal back in my 30s that by the time I turn 50, I wanted to run for some sort of office," Barnes said. "Whether that be mayor or governor or whatever it may be. It would be refreshing. It's not something people expect, but I know I can make a difference. I still got seven years before that time is up."

Barnes played 14 seasons for numerous teams such as the LA Clippers, Golden State Warriors, LA Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies, etc.
