Joel Embiid talked about Team USA's focus on bringing home the gold medal
There is some pressure on this year's USA Basketball to secure the gold medal in the Olympics. A level of standard is always expected from Team USA, considering their history of dominance in the sport, coupled with the talent level present in their rosters each time.
This year has proven to be no different, as Joel Embiid highlighted the camaraderie within the team as they are focused on securing gold when it's all said and done, as per USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt.
"We've got one goal, and that's to win the gold," Embiid said, "and we're coming together with that mindset. We are not here to compete against each other. We just here to make each other better so we are on the same page so we can go out and do our best to win the gold."
Following their fourth-place finish in last year's FIBA World Cup, courtesy of Team Canada, the road to redemption begins on Sunday against Serbia.
