Puerto Rico vs Serbia game recap
The only storyline from Puerto Rico vs Serbia was one team getting themselves back on track after a rough opening matchup. Serbia bounced back in a big way to improve to 1-1 in the Group Phase round.
There were multiple standouts for Serbia in this matchup, with Nikola Jokic being the most notable. The Denver Nuggets star fell just short of a triple-double, posting a stat line of 14 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists.
Aside from Jokic, fellow NBA player Filip Petrusev also had a notworthy outing. He led Serbia in scoring with 15 points on stellar 7-for-9 shooting from the field.
As for Puerto Rico, it was a game to forget for a handful of their players. That said, they did get a strong outing from Christopher Ortiz. He was the only player for Puerto Rico to break double-digits, scoring 19 points on 43% shooting from the field.
New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alverado has been one of Puerto Rico's top players, but he struggled greatly against Serbia. He mustered just two points while shooting 1-for-6.
With this win, Serbia has increased their chances of advancing to the knockout round. Meanwhile, Puerto Rico has dug themselves a deep hole with an 0-2 start.
