The LA Lakers will reportedly waive Quincy Olivari to address a pressing roster concern. Olivari began his stint with the team in training camp but earned a two-way contract following an impressive preseason run. The combo guard continued to do well while playing for the South Bay Lakers, but Rob Pelinka had to make a roster spot for frontcourt help to arrive.
In an interview with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Olivari had this to say about playing for the Lakers with LeBron James:
“It was great being here, especially being around a storied franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers. I loved being in the facility every day around legends because I was able to ask questions and learn.
"More importantly, I enjoyed being around a legend in LeBron James and seeing how he approaches the game even in preseason games, which is remarkable.”

Quincy Olivari did not see action with the four-time MVP but appreciated what he learned from the Lakers superstar. The undrafted rookie played two regular-season games. His last game for the purple and gold was on Monday in the Lakers’ 126-102 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Olivari averaged 1.5 points and 0.5 assists in 5.0 minutes in two games.
However, Olivari stood out in the G League, which will likely earn him interest from other teams. He averaged 15.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per contest for the South Bay Lakers. Olivari shot 46.5%, including 40.0% from deep.
The Lakers will reportedly replace Quincy Olivari with Trey Jemison
The LA Lakers’ frontcourt is thin because only Jaxson Hayes is available as Anthony Davis’ backup. Christian Wood, who is recovering from left knee surgery, remains out indefinitely. Lakers GM Rob Pelinka wanted to bolster the frontline, so he reportedly waived Quincy Olivari for Trey Jemison.
Jemison, a 6-foot-11 bruising center, previously played for the Washington Wizards, Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Pelicans. In 16 games for the Pelicans this season, he averaged 2.4 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.4 blocks in 10.4 minutes per game.
Anthony Davis recently missed a game because of a tweaked ankle. With only Jaxson Hayes as a true center, the Lakers needed a boost in the frontcourt should AD or Hayes miss time. Jemison is not a scorer but will battle for rebounds, set screens and help protect the paint.
