Rasheed Wallace downplays Draymond Green's size, picks his '04 Pistons to beat '17 Warriors: "Steph is not a defender"

Rasheed Wallace thinks his '04 Pistons will beat the 2017 Warriors.

Former NBA player Rasheed Wallace believes the 2004 Detroit Pistons will beat the 2017 Golden State Warriors in a seven-game series. Wallace downplayed the greatness of the 2017 Warriors due to Draymond Green's size, Steph Curry's lack of defense and more.

On a recent episode of "The Sheed & Tyler Show" presented by Underdog NBA, Wallace was not having any slander from Green against their championship team. He broke down why the Pistons' defense would make things tough for a Warriors team that had Curry, Green, Klay Thompson and prime Kevin Durant.

"We were defense. We hang our hat on defense. We would've beat the sh*t out of them. ... Because for the simple fact that they couldn't match up with us at any position. Steph's not a defender. He would've had to guard Rip (Hamilton). ... They're not used to the physicality. Draymond's too little," Wallace said.

Rasheed Wallace argued that the 2004 Detroit Pistons have a top-tier defense, although their scoring might not be on par with the 2017 Golden State Warriors. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant might just be the greatest scoring trio the NBA has ever seen.

Draymond Green might be small for his position, but the Pistons had an undersized Ben Wallace at center. Andre Iguodala completes the Warriors' death lineup, and he's a good defender. Thompson was at his peak as a two-way player that season, and Durant used his length to understand his role on that side as well.

Rasheed also claimed that Tayshaun Prince could give KD some problems because he was an underrated scorer. He even thought that they could be successful against the Warriors under today's rules, aand it's not the first time Rasheed has gone on record that the '04 Pistons would beat the '17 Warriors.

Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if Draymond Green responds to Rasheed Wallace, as he's busy covering the NBA playoffs with the "Inside the NBA" crew on TNT. Green already expressed his opinion of the '04 Pistons in an appearance on Shaquille O'Neal's podcast.

Chauncey Billups shares same opinion as Rasheed Wallace but with a catch

Rasheed Wallace had the same assessment about the 2004 Detroit Pistons vs. the 2017 Golden State Warriors after the latter's championship win. Wallace's teammate Chauncey Billups shares the same belief, but there's a catch. Billups thought they could beat the Warriors if it were under the rules back then.

"I say this. It depends on the rules. If the rules are right now where you can't really compete and touch a guy, I mean our regular fouls will be flagrant ones or twos there right now.
"So if it's 2004 rules, absolutely. If it's right now rules, we gonna have a tough tough time because we probably all gonna be fouled out by the time the third quarter starts," Billups said on 'The Rich Eisen Show' in June 2017.
