Former LA Lakers guard Matt Ryan has found himself a new team. After being released by the Lakers, Ryan is signing a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Ryan was waived by the Lakers last week, a shocking move given the team's lack of shooting on the roster. The 25-year-old guard had his fair share of flashes while wearing a Lakers uniform. Over the course of a four-game stretch, Ryan averaged 7.0 points per game while shooting 44.4% from 3-point range.

Ryan's NBA journey has drawn plenty of attention. While waiting for his shot in the NBA, Ryan worked as a cemetery landscaper as well as a DoorDash driver. He eventually ended up latching on with the Boston Celtics during the 2021-22 season.

His journey is about to add another chapter. According to a report from NBA Insider Shams Charania, Matt Ryan has been signed to a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Matt Ryan has had a remarkable journey to the NBA. He will now look to do everything in his power to convert his two-way contract into a long-term deal.

One of Ryan's most memorable moments of the 2022-23 season came during a Lakers game against the New Orleans Pelicans. Ryan went on to hit a corner 3-point shot to force the game into overtime. This resulted in the Lakers defeating the Pelicans 120-117, with Ryan adding 11 points and two rebounds on 4-of-11 shooting.

The Minnesota Timberwolves came into the 2022-23 season as a potential sleeper pick in the Western Conference. Heading into Wednesday night's game, the team finds itself at 11-12 on the year. They have won just one of their last five games and are looking for a spark in their rotation. Ryan is hoping that he can be just what the team needs.

Minnesota could look to put Ryan in their G League system first, something that is common with two-way players. For now, it looks as if Ryan's journey continues to march on. So far this year, Ryan has averaged 3.9 points in just 10.8 minutes of action per game. To sign Ryan, the Timberwolves announced they were waiving A.J. Lawson in a corresponding move.
