The Phoenix Suns will soon have a new owner. Robert Sarver is selling the team and its new owner could be Barack Obama, the former president of the United States.
Obama is a huge basketball fan and could become a team owner as well. The new ownership group could also include Suns legend Charles Barkley.
Bill Simmons had Barkley as his guest on "The Bill Simmons Podcast." The podcaster revealed that the former U.S. President may become the new owner of the Phoenix Suns:
"I heard Obama's involved in one of the groups."

He added:
"That's the one guy I feel like, they would make him the actual face, and the money guys would be so happy to have him at the front."
Right after Simmons said this, Charles Barkley interrupted him by saying that he'd be interested in owning the Suns as well. However, he'd only do it if ownership included the 44th President of the United States.

Barack Obama could own the Phoenix Suns
Barack Obama and Charles Barkley are both big basketball fans. Obama has been very popular among NBA fans and players. He even weighed in on the GOAT debate by picking Michael Jordan over LeBron James.
While Obama is best known for being a former U.S. President, he was successful as a basketball player as well. Obama played basketball at Hawaii’s Punahou School in late 1970s and even won a state championship in 1979.
According to his teammates and his high school coach, Barack Obama was a hard worker. He eventually enrolled in Occidental College, where he kept playing basketball. Even as president, Obama was seen playing pickup basketball at the White House.
He's been in love with basketball for more than four decades. There is no doubt that the Phoenix Suns would drastically benefit from having him as the owner. If nothing, he'd at least do a better job than Robert Sarver.
Charles Barkley's presence would be amazing
Charles Barkley is one of the most popular NBA players of all time. He played four years for the Phoenix Suns and was incredible. Barkley led the team to the 1993 NBA Finals, but they eventually lost to Jordan and his Chicago Bulls.
Since retiring from basketball in 2000, Barkley has been a sports analyst. He's been a huge part of the "Inside the NBA" show with Shaquille O'Neal, Ernie Johnson Jr. and Kenny Smith.
Barkley is another huge fan of basketball. Unfortunately, he can't afford to buy the Phoenix Suns on his own. In fact, both Barack Obama and Charles Barkley will have to be part of an ownership group that eventually buys the team.
Their combined net worth is estimated at around $130 million. When it comes to the Suns, the price of the team will most likely be around $4 billion, which is something not a lot of people can afford.
