RJ Barrett has been balling out for the Toronto Raptors this season despite their unimpressive record. Barrett and the Raptors welcomed Jalen Brunson the New York Knicks to the Scotiabank Arena on Monday night. How did the Raptors star perform tonight against his former team?

Barrett finished with 30 points, eight rebounds, four assists and one steal in 37 minutes. However, it was not enough as the Raptors were outlasted by the Knicks 113-108. It was a close game in the second half, but losing Scottie Barnes to an ankle injury in the third quarter was too much to overcome.

Jalen Brunson had 20 points, four rebounds and 11 assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 24 points, 15 rebounds and six assists. Barrett is now 0-2 against his former team though he has a few more chances to get his first win this season.

How did RJ Barrett perform against the New York Knicks?

RJ Barrett had a good first quarter for the Toronto Raptors, finishing with eight points on 3-for-4 shooting. He didn't take a lot of shots but was very efficient. He knocked down two 3-point shots, grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist. However, Toronto was still down 34-27 after the first 12 minutes.

In the second quarter, Barrett was much better as the Raptors kept things tight against the Knicks. They were down by 11 points at the five-minute when they made a furious rally to take the 61-60 lead at halftime. The Canadian forward added nine points, three rebounds and an assist to his tally.

RJ Barrett had another solid quarter for the Toronto Raptors in the third as he was forced to carry the offense. Scottie Barnes suffered a sprained ankle and was ruled out for the rest of the game. It was a huge blow for the Raptors since Barnes has been the focal point of the offense as a playmaker.

Barrett got some help from rookie Ja'Kobe Walter, who had 19 points off the bench. The game was close in the final minutes, with the former New York Knicks player tied the game with less than 50 seconds left in regulation.

However, it was the Raptors' last basket as the Knicks finished the game on a 5-0 run to get the victory. New York improved to 15-9 for the season and will face the Atlanta Hawks in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Emirates NBA Cup on Wednesday.

As for the Raptors, they dropped to 7-18 and remained 14th in the Eastern Conference standings. They are now on a three-game losing streak and will be back in action on Thursday against the Miami Heat.
