RJ Hampton praised Colorado Buffaloes standout Travis Hunter for winning the 2024 Lott IMPACT Trophy for his defensive impact this season. Aside from the trophy, Hunter has also been in the running for the Heisman Trophy.
Hampton, who is now playing for the Capital City Go-go in the NBA G League, reacted to Hunter's season with three words on Instagram. This season, Hunter broke the single-season receiving record for the Buffaloes, among other historic feats.
“1of1,” Hampton commented under Hunter's post on Monday.

Hunter has been one of the biggest stars in college football after a terrific season this year. He amassed 92 receptions for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns on top of 31 tackles, 11 pass breakups, four interceptions and one forced fumble.
Hunter has been the leading figure in the resurgence of the Colorado football program, which has been headed by Deion Sanders.
Hunter, the favorite for the Heisman Trophy, is also projected to be one of the top picks in the 2025 NFL draft following this impressive season.
RJ Hampton once said he wants to dunk on Lakers' LeBron James
RJ Hampton has not played an NBA game in over a year, ending a promising start when he was drafted 24th overall in the 2020 draft. Having great ambitions to start his career, Hampton said in 2022 that he wanted to dunk on LA Lakers’ forward and league’s all-time leading scorer LeBron James.
When asked about who he would like to put on a poster dunk among the all-time greats, Hampton said (via "No Chill with Gilbert Arenas" podcast):
"It's cliché, but LeBron and I have a reason though. I have a reason.”
Hampton, who was then playing with the Orlando Magic, told a story about a game against the Lakers when James blocked him on a fastbreak play. James then did the "Mutombo finger wag" to mark the block, while Hampton said it was goaltending.
“I'm right there at the rim about to just lay this, lay it up and just get back on defense," Hampton said. "Bron came from nowhere. I didn't see him, no one said anything. It was just like he flew from the other side and like, I seen that clip so many times.”
Hunter cited this as the reason why he wanted to dunk on the Lakers star.
"It was used on commercials," Hampton said. "It was used social media. It just pisses me off every time I see it, so that's why.”
Hampton has played for four teams in his four-year NBA career, averaging 6.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He was mostly played off the bench with limited minutes.
