LA Lakers fans are urging General Manager Rob Pelinka to acquire Anfernee Simons from the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers have missed out on big-name free agents, which frustrated their fanbase. With Simons reportedly available, will the Lakers turn their attention to the trade market to upgrade their roster?
According to Rose Garden Report's Sean Highkin, the Blazers could be open to parting ways with Simons after what GM Joe Cronin said on draft night. Cronin said he is committed to building around Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe.
Highkin also pointed out Simons' exit interview last season, wherein the guard said he wanted the "opportunity to win," something that's seemingly not going to happen in Portland right now.

After reading the rumors of Anfernee Simons' potential availability, Lakers fans online urged Rob Pelinka to make some calls. Pelinka has been quiet so far in free agency, missing out on several big names such as Klay Thompson, James Harden and Buddy Hield:
"Rob Pelinka, please make the goddamn call," one fan urged.
"This is the trade Rob been cookin omfgg LAKER," another fan wrote.
"The Lakers could use someone like him. Keep an eye on them to show interest," a fan claimed.
The LA Lakers still have some assets they can part ways with, as well as matching salaries from D'Angelo Russell, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura. However, it's unclear exactly how much the Portland Trail Blazers value Anfernee Simons.
More reactions from fans followed on X/Twitter:
"What about him and J. Grant to the Lakers?" a fan asked.
"Lakers please do something give them all the picks we have. He is legit another dame with better defense," one fan pleaded.
"Grant and Simons for DLo, Rui, Gabe and 2 1sts - CALL IT IN ROB," another fan suggested.
Anfernee Simons had his best year last season
In terms of his scoring, Anfernee Simons had his best year last season after averaging 22.6 points, 5.5 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting 43%. Simons was expected to make the leap since Damian Lillard was gone and Scoot Henderson was not ready to take over the franchise just yet as a rookie.
The Florida native was injured at the start of the season, suffering a torn UCL in his right thumb. He was ruled out for four to six weeks, missing a total of 36 games in the end. It was a tough season for the Portland Trail Blazers in terms of winning, finishing dead last in the Western Conference with a 21-61 record.
In his exit interview after the regular season ended, Simons expressed his disappointment in how the team's season went:
"We don't want to have another year like this. My sixth year is done now. Going into year seven, I want to have an opportunity to win," Simons said.
